SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - On Friday, the same day slain Tempe fire captain Kyle Brayer was laid to rest, Scottsdale Police released the 911 calls that were made on the night of Brayer's death.
Several witnesses reported that they saw a red Scion leaving the scene, and others were highly emotional as they relayed to police the horrific crime they just witnessed.
There were nearly a dozen 911 calls from witnesses reporting a man had been shot near Civic Center Drive and Stetson. Some thought it was a hit-and-run accident.
One of the most emotional calls came from a woman who was with Brayer when he was shot.
"Tempe firefighter Kyle Brayer just got shot in the head," said the woman. "We're in Scottsdale. I don't know where we are. We were in a golf cart and a guy took a gun out, and shot him in the head."
Dispatchers worked to keep the woman calm during the call. Meanwhile, the shooting suspect turned himself into police after seeing a description of the car on the news. The suspect is being held on a $300,000 bond.
