- It was not a normal fact-finding mission for a Congressman. Arizona Senator Jeff Flake along with his wife and others were charged by an elephant protecting its young. Flake visited Africa to look at the rampant poaching there, with impacts that go beyond the loss of the animals themselves.

"Ivory and rhino horns have been used to fund wars, to fund terrorism, Al Shabab in Kenya, and we don't want to see that moved down the continent," said Sen. Jeff Flake.

Flake has sponsored a bill called the End Wildlife Trafficking Act; it would help the government better work with foreign leaders to curb illegal wildlife trafficking. It's a big fight because the amount of money involved is staggering.

"With the rhino, I was holding up two horns, 25 pounds, worth $600,000 on the black market. So you can imagine what kind of pressures there are for poachers to come in," said Flake.
