Feed My Starving Children Marketplace: A place to shop and give back during the holiday season

- The countdown is on to get all your Christmas shopping done in time and one organization is making it easy for you to buy gifts that make a huge impact.

From handmade necklaces from Africa to metal work done in Haiti, the gifts at Feed My Starving Children are sure to impress.

"This is a great place to find gifts that give back," said Janine Skinner, the development advisor at Feed My Starving Children, which is a Christian hunger relief organization that packs up food, all done by volunteers and then shipped out across the world to about 70 countries.

For years now, the organization has been importing some of the goods from the countries they serve.

"We have begun actually supporting artisans in these local communities where we're feeding, by purchasing their items and reselling them at our marketplaces at our permanent sites," explained Skinner.

All the money goes right back into the program.

"You're supporting these artisans by buying these gifts, but you're also supporting our feeding program in the process because the proceeds go right back into our feeding program," said Skinner.

On each label, it shows where in the world the item is from, but also just how many meals it provides.

"Gifts that are special, but have a true impact," she said.

A gift this holiday season that will truly make an impact.

"These are gifts that really have an impact, they're special, they're unique, they're saving lives."

If you're not near one of their locations, you can shop online, as well as find out about volunteering to make those food bags at www.fmsc.org.
