PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Officials with ADOT say drivers should be prepared for hazardous driving conditions in higher elevations, as a storm moves across the state late Sunday through Tuesday morning.
According to a statement issued Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories and warnings for northern Arizona, as well as southeastern Arizona.
According to the statement, drivers planning to travel on I-40, I-17, State Route 89A, State Route 87, and State Route 260 may want to consider postponing their travel plans, until the storm passes and snowplows have cleared the highways.
Conditions, according to the statement, may change very quickly during winter storms, and the storm may temporarily close highways or cause long backups.
ADOT officials said their crews will pre-treat the highways before the storm arrives, and once it begins snowing, plows will clear the roadways, 24/7.
