Victims identified in Falcon Field crash

A retired military training aircraft crashed at Mesa's Falcon Field airport.

The accident happened around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Air traffic control communications show the plane took off with another aircraft when for some reason it crashed. The other aircraft proceeded to a nearby airport.

Mesa Fire crews responded and put out the blaze, but rescuers could not save the two victims.

On Wednesday authorities identified the pilot as Jesse Goodwin from the valley who worked for American Airlines, and the passenger onboard was Ataberk Besier of Turkey.

The investigation is ongoing by the NTSB and FAA.
