Cyber Monday at Amazon: Local fulfillment center is busier than ever

Last year on Cyber Monday, Amazon shipped more than 54 million packages around the world, and this year at the fulfillment center in west Phoenix, it's expected to be even busier.

One point two million square feet and eight miles of fast-moving conveyer belts sits in just one of four Amazon fulfillment centers in the Valley and all of them will be busier than ever today.

"We have tons of deals, new deals every five minutes, thousands of deals on everything from electronics to toys to home decor," Tim Cook said.

Cook says it's priority to make sure all of those deals get to your home in tact and on time, meaning all 2,500 employees here are focused on a very detailed and organized shipping plan.

"Black Friday was great, but we focus more on Cyber Monday," Ty Bowman said.

Valley man Ty Bowman founded Lifetime Leather Company five years ago. His first products were family Christmas presents that he made out of an old leather couch, but as of April, he's hit big by selling his handmade products out of the Amazon Marketplace.

Today, he's offering 45 percent off some of his wallets and women's totes.

"Their outreach is huge, so we are able to reach customers that we never would have been able to reach any other way," he said.

If you haven't done your Cyber Monday shopping yet, don't worry, as the company is having deals through midnight.
