Announcers gather Spanish following for Cardinals

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - When it comes to fans, the bird-gang has no boundaries.

The Cardinals have a huge following outside of the United States. The games are broadcasted in Spanish, not just here, but internationally as well.

He's a familiar voice for thousands of Cards fans, but his face and bow tie are a little less known. Gabriel Trujillo along with former Cardinals player Rolando Cantu, bring the games to life on the airwaves across the border.

"On any given Sunday we would have a couple of hundred thousand people tune into our broadcast in Mexico, especially in Mexico City and Guadalajara," said Rolando Cantu.

The Arizona Cardinals have the largest Spanish-radio network of any team, broadcasting in Arizona and on 41 different stations in Mexico.

For nearly a decade now, Trujillo has been announcing the games. His passion and catch phrases have become contagious, and he's practically gone viral.

After last weekend's epic win, Trujillo's call has been circulating on social media. The duo is so popular that many of their fans tell them they turn on the TV and radio on game day.

"We turn off the volume on TV and listen to you guys, so yeah it's a very good combo," said Trujillo.

They say the fans are so dedicated to the Cards, that they often make the trip across the border to be part of game day.

"Our fan base is very big in Mexico, especially here in Sonora. Our neighbors, they come up and drive to the Cardinals games at our radio show," said Cantu.

Gabriel and Rolando travel with the team on road games, so they'll be in Charlotte this weekend, and they're looking forward to hopefully going to the Super Bowl.
