Arizona Cardinals: Team president backs Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court

- The President of the Arizona Cardinals, Michael Bidwill, is backing President Donald Trump's pick for the U.S. Supreme Court.

On Monday, Trump announced he has selected Brett Kavanaugh as his pick to replace outgoing Supreme Court justice Anthony Kennedy.

According to the team's official website, Bidwill and other alumni of Georgetown Prep have e-mailed a letter to Senate leaders vouching for Kavanaugh's character, as the announcement was made. The letter is reportedly signed by over 150 people, including the General Manager of the New York Yankees, Brian Cashman.

Kavanaugh and Bidwill reportedly went to high school together at Georgetown Prep. Bidwill, according to the article, also attended Kavanaugh's wedding.

“The purpose of the letter is to talk about Brett as a person. We have known him and known what a brilliant mind he has. He’s eminently qualified," Bidwill told the Cardinals, in a phone interview. He was reportedly out of the country on Monday. In the article, Bidwill went on to say that Kavanaugh is a "man of high character, high intelligence, excellence and independence."

The team also posted about Bidwill's support of Kavanaugh, on its verified social media accounts.

On Monday night, there was a heated debate on the Cardinals' Facebook page.
