Arizona non-profit helps clothe hundreds of Valley foster children

PHOENIX (FOX 10) - Shirts, shoes and pants are some of the basics some people take for granted, but not Joie Wilson Lambson.

"We have five grandchildren and four foster children living with us so a total of nine," she said.

Wilson Lambson tries to fill the needs of each and every child and she gets a hand up from Arizona Helping Hands, a non-profit that provides things like beds and clothing for foster families.

We have worked with the Legacy Foundation through their back-to-school clothing drive in the summer time," said Dan Schufelt of Arizona Helping Hands. "This is the first time we've done something mid-year."

The Assistance League rolled it's huge rock-star-like bus into the parking lot, and inside the kids were measured so the clothes fit them perfectly.

"One of the things that's most important to us is that not only we give the kids brand new clothes. they're clothes that fit them specially," said Amee Runyon of the Assistance League.

"Boys are horrible with pants, they are constantly ripping their jeans," Wilson Lambson said. "It's nice to be able to have a little extra support."

The extra support, according to this grandmother and foster mom, will go a long way.
