Arizona politicians react to President Trump's State of the Union speech

- Politicians in Arizona are reacting to President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech, which was made on Tuesday.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ 05)

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the state of our union is indeed strong. In the first year of his administration, President Trump has unleashed our nation’s limitless economic potential by producing the most expansive tax reform package since the Reagan administration and sweeping reductions in onerous federal regulations, enforced our laws, strengthened our military, nominated constitutionally-minded judges to federal courts, protected life and religious freedom, and sent an unmistakable message to the international community that America will protect her interests before all others. He has been successful because he has kept his promises.

“President Trump still faces many challenges as he enters his second year in office, and I am confident that he is ready for them. We must repeal Obamacare. We must build the border wall. We must continue to reduce burdensome regulations. We must completely reform the Veterans Administration. I look forward to working with President Trump to advance these commitments – and the Republican Party platform – in the United States House of Representatives.”

Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ 09)

“Instead of focusing on one event in Washington, we need to get to work for Arizonans. Too many people I hear from in Arizona are worried that their kids won’t have a better life than they had. They’re struggling to pay the bills and worry about their future.

"We can reduce the cost of healthcare, fund our military, care for our veterans, protect our border and Dreamers, and help Arizona businesses thrive. I’m focused on the days ahead and hopeful my colleagues will put party politics aside to finally get things done. That is what Arizonans expect, what they deserve, and what I’m working every day to deliver.”
