Arizona State Fair: Everything you need to know for 2017

The Arizona State Fair kicks off today, and with the mass shooting in Las Vegas and several incidents involving rides across the country over the summer, there are a lot of safety concerns looming over the festivities this year.

Gates open at noon on Friday and as usual, there will be a lot of fun to be had at the three-week festival at the Arizona State Fairgrounds, but one of big focus, organizers say, has been safety.

Police and deputies have said that security at the fair will be a top priority and inspectors were out making a last check before the gates open today.

Inspections have come under scrutiny in recent months. Back in July, one person was killed and seven other were hurt when a ride at the Ohio State Fair collapsed while in motion.

Inspectors in Arizona say they have been on site every day this week to make sure every ride is ready to go.

In addition to the rides there's also concerts. There's a great kickoff tonight with Gary Allan, Cake will perform on Saturday, and DNCE will play on Sunday.

Other big acts performing at the fair include Snoop Dogg, Marilyn Manson, and Rick Springfield.
