Arizona wildlife park rescues elk calf after mother hit by vehicle

WILLIAMS, Ariz. - An Arizona wildlife park has rescued an elk calf after her mother was hit by a car on the I-40 in June.

The late mother had been pregnant during the accident, and Flagstaff firefighters worked to deliver and rescue the calf, appropriately named Lucky, according to Bearizona, a wildlife park in Williams, Arizona.

A Prescott family who witnessed the rescue brought the calf to Bearizona, where officials say she is fully recovered.

Lucky can now be seen by the public at the wildlife park along with a recently rescued two-month-old fawn, Jessie.

Lucky is the twelfth wild animal rescued in 2018 by the park, according to Bearizona officials.
