As search for home invasion suspect continues in Scottsdale, nearby residents remain concerned

- As Scottsdale Police continues to look for a man who allegedly invaded a 94 year-old woman's home, and forced her into the trunk of her own car.

The incident happened Tuesday morning, and the woman was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle for hours before she managed to pop the trunk open, and made her way to safety in a parking lot at Scottsdale Fashion Square mall.

Meanwhile, neighbors now wondering what they would do, if it happened to them.

Jan Osolnick lived just a few doors down from where the 94-year-old woman lived, near 68th Street and Camelback. On Wednesday, Osolnick was seen looking for a way out of the trunk in an emergency, as she was about to get into her car.

"I thought it it was right there. I think it is right here," said Osolnick, referring to a glow-in-the-dark latch t hat has been required in car trunks, since 2001.

People can pull on the latch to pop the trunk, in case of an emergency.

In the meantime, Scottsdale Police not talking about how the woman got out, or why she was trapped for so long.

Osolnick, meanwhile, wished she had been nearby.

"I think it is terrible, and I am sorry he got away. Wish I could've helped the lady," said Osolnick.

Now, people who live in the area are thinking about what they would do, if a bad guy confronted them.

"I am glad I found out I had one of those that will help me," said Osolnick. "Then, I've got my mace that I got out and have ready. I am getting prepared."

Scottsdale Police officials said they looking for a clean-cut white man in his 30s, who police think forced the woman into the trunk of her car.
