As Texas Gulf Coast braces for Hurricane Harvey, Red Cross in Arizona gears up to help

- As people along the Texas Gulf Coast brace for a major hurricane, the American Red Cross is preparing for Harvey's impacts.

Volunteers from the Arizona chapter are reportedly already on their way to Texas, to help out for what could be a flooding disaster.

Meanwhile, as people in parts of Texas brace for the hurricane, thousands of people traveling to or from the cities along Harvey's path the next couple of days can expect flight cancellations.

One woman, however, was lucky enough to change her flight out of Houston, and arrive in the Valley before the storm hit.

"I had been calling Southwest Airlines all day today, looking to see if there was an open flight, because I was concerned that my flight would be canceled," said the woman.

Before boarding her flight to Phoenix, however, she made sure to stock up on water. She said she was surprised to see the long lines in the store.

"The grocery store was packed," said the woman. "People were pilling up supplies and getting ready for this four to five days of heavy rain and possible hurricane."
