PHOENIX (FOX 10) -- A Valley woman is proving the sky is the limit.
Selima Martin has Asperger's Syndrome, but she's never let that stop her. Now, she is a top employee with Banner Health
Martin transports patients at Banner Desert Medical Center, and she has beaten the odds in many ways.
She was once an orphan in the Eastern European country of Bulgaria, and was adopted by her mother, Lisa, when she was five. After coming to the United States, she had many health challenges, and was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.
Far from letting it stop her, Martin even took her job a step further. She crafted the idea of Banner having its own mascot. She created Dr. Bear on her own, got the idea approved by the hospital's CEO, and is now the fun character behind the mask.
Dr. Bear visits the kids at Cardon Children's Hospital. FOX 10's Danielle Miller reports.
