Body-cam footage released in Gilbert double murder

Gilbert Police have released more information and body camera footage from a double murder case.

Authorities are trying to figure out why a man shot and killed his roommate, along with a 17-year-old boy who was also in the home. The suspect, 35-year-old Matthew Crain, was shot by police and is in critical condition.

It all happened at a home near Val Vista and Williams Field Road in Gilbert. Authorities say Crain shot and killed a 33-year-old woman and her daughter's 17-year-old boyfriend. The daughter was able to escape unharmed and called 9-1-1.

Operator: "9-1-1, where is your emergency?"
Caller: "My roommate just shot my mom and my best friend."

Gilbert Police searched for seven hours before finding the suspect hiding near a canal. A body camera worn by an officer showed the moment that they confronted Crain and opened fire.

Investigators say the officers saw Crain reach for his waistband, and they fired multiple times, giving him verbal commands to get on the ground.

Crain survived and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, once released he is expected to be arrested and charged in the murders.
