PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A homicide investigation is underway, after a man was found dead inside a car Wednesday in a Phoenix neighborhood.
According to officials, a body was found in a car near 85th Avenue and Encanto Boulevard at 11 a.m. Phoenix Police Sgt. Alan Pfohl stated there was trauma to the victim, who was later identified as 20-year-old Gerardo Perez.
The location is across the street from where two people, both 23 years old, were found with fatal gunshot wounds to the head in a car on January 9.
A man who lives in the area said he saw the man in his car, and it appeared he was asleep, since he was laid back in his char, wearing sunglasses. After several hours, however, the man said he took action, and saw dried up blood on his nose and mouth.
"I opened his door using my t-shirt," said the man. "He wasn't alive anymore. He was gone, and he'd been bleeding a little bit, and the blood on him was already dry."
According to police, it is not clear if the two incidents are connected.
