Suspect dead following wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 near Californian border

- DPS officials said a driver is dead, following a wrong way crash on Interstate 10 Wednesday afternoon.

According to DPS, troopers tried to conduct a traffic stop at around 2:30 p.m. on the I-10, at milepost 25 near the Arizona-California State Line when the vehicle fled from a DPS trooper at a high rate of speed.

The car, according to a DPS statement issued Wednesday night, was discovered by troopers to have been used in an attempted homicide out of Los Angeles. The driver then crossed the median and went the wrong way, where it struck a semi truck at milepost 44.7.

The suspect driver, according to DPS, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the semi truck was taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. DPS officials did not release the suspect's identity Wednesday night.
