Casa Grande man arrested after shooting 15-year-old teen

A man was arrested after shooting a teenager in the foot while he was trying to hide a handgun.

The Casa Grande Police Department tells Fox 10 that 22-year-old Timothy Zazueta was arrested and charged with with aggravated assault with a weapon, three counts of unlawful discharge of a weapon and five counts of endangerment.

Police responded to the Palm View Apartments just before 9 p.m. on Monday after receiving reports of shots fired in the area. After arriving at the scene, officers learned that a 15-year-old girl had been shot in the foot.

Through their investigation, detectives learned that Zazueta fired two gunshots into the air from the parking lot of the apartment complex during an altercation. When Zazueta was trying to hide the gun inside a nearby apartment, it discharged and the teen was shot in the left foot.

Police recovered the .9mm handgun and four other juveniles were inside the apartment when the gun went off.

Zazueta was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center.
