Police: 2 people arrested in connection with Chandler shooting

CHANDLER, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- Chandler Police officials say two people have been arrested, in connection with the shooting death of a man earlier in April.

According to a statement released Friday afternoon, police officers discovered the body of 33-year-old Darrell Rushing at around 4:30 a.m. on April 10, as they were conducting a follow-up on an investigation in the area of Chandler Boulevard and Hamilton Street. Officers looked south towards the sound of gunshots, and saw a man firing additional shots with the firearm.

Police say one of the two suspects, identified as 31-year-old Luis Martinez, was arrested on April 17, and the other suspect, 23-year-old Ivan Contreras, was arrested on April 18. According to court documents provided by Chandler Police officials, Contreras was also charged with drug-related offenses. Both Contreras and Martinez have had prior arrest and conviction records.
