Chandler police arrest attempted kidnapping suspect

- Chandler Police say they've arrested a man, in connection to what they believe to be an attempted kidnapping incident that happened in late April.

According to the Chandler Police Department, the suspect arrested on May 4 in connection to an interaction involving a juvenile boy, which happened at a community park located in the area of the 2400 block of Arizona Avenue.

According to police, the incident happened at around 11:40 a.m. on April 26, when the man approached a boy who was playing at the park. The man asked to hold the boy's hand, while grabbing onto the boy's hand. The boy pulled away and said "no", but the suspect, police say, grabbed the boy's wrist and started to walk with him, heading west, before a family member stopped the man.

The man, according to police, was described as being an Eastern Indian man who was about 5' 7" tall, with a medium build. The man was wearing a red and white striped shirt, cream-colored shorts, white socks pulled up to his calf, and a baseball hat with red on it. The suspect's hair protruded from under the hat by about one to two inches, and was black in color. The suspect also sported a black beard described as "patchy", and was described to have an East Indian accent.
