According to a statement, police said the incident happened in the area of Arizona Avenue and Riggs Road. At around 4:15 p.m., a patrol officer made a stop on a vehicle in the area, and a few minutes after making the stop, the officer yelled a distress code from his radio.

According to Chandler police, one of their officers fired at the suspect and the suspect's car, but there is no confirmation yet on whether the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Allen Pedro, fired at officers.

Pedro, according to police, fled the scene in the car, and into the Gila River Indian Reservation. Gila River Police Department later stopped the car, but Pedro, 27, is still at large, and was last seen walking through the desert west of State Route 587.
