3-year-old girl dies following Chandler shooting, father arrested

CHANDLER, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police say a three-year-old girl has died after she was shot in Chandler on Thursday night.

Chandler police say the shooting happened near Ivanhoe and Hartford Streets. Following the shooting, the three-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital where she died on Friday.

The girl's father, 33-year-old Eric Sands, has been arrested and is being held on prohibited possessor and possession of dangerous drugs charges.

The investigation is ongoing by police, but police said it is not known at this time as to who pulled the trigger.
