Chandler thrift store gets boost in business

The Hidden Treasures thrift store in Chandler has been open for 10 years, but the upswing in sales is something a little more recent.

"We've had ups and downs and things like that, but for some reason since the beginning of the year we've had an upsurge in people buying stuff," Art Krzyzewski said.

Art, an unpaid day manager, is part of the reason. He's one of dozens of volunteers from Mountain View Lutheran Church that have helped quadruple donations over the last couple of years and increase sales.

"It just feels good seeing your regular customers and new customers and being able to help them out," he said.

New customer Marta says she came here on a recommendation from her mother and with a little something for everyone, Marta gets what the buzz is all about.

"She loves coming here, so yeah, that's why I said, "Dad, I have somewhere to take you,'" she said.

Like for many businesses, word of mouth has been invaluable for Hidden Treasures. It's a real gem made brighter by the community it serves.

"Like they said, it's a treasure box, so you never know what you're gonna find," Marta said.
