PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Big changes are coming soon to some major streets in Downtown Phoenix.
Currently, 3rd Avenue is northbound one-way road, while 5th Avenue is a southbound one-way road. That, however, is about to change, as the city wants to make open both northbound and southbound traffic.
In addition, there will also be bike lane changes, with bike lanes on 5th Avenue going away, and bike lanes on 3rd Avenue going in both directions.
City officials say the project's focus is to increase safety and improve circulation.
Residents are ready to ditch the one-way roads, as some say drivers fail to realize the two streets are one way roads, and when they attempt to turn, they end up traveling in the wrong direction, which was witnessed by a FOX 10 camera crew on Friday night.
FOX 10's Courtney Griffin reports.
