BUCKEYE, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- Officials with Buckeye Police say one of its retired police K-9s has passed away.
In a statement released Tuesday night, officials say Cido, a Belgian Malinois from the Czech Republic passed away on January 7 at the age of 12. Cido started his career with Buckeye Police in December 2008, just over 10 years ago. Cido and his officer, identified as Dave Smith, attended a 400-hour canine academy in January 2009.
Buckeye Police say Cido, who retired on July 1 2017, located thousands of pounds of illegal substances and narcotics with Officer Smith, and also located and secured millions of dollars in Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) funds seized during narcotics investigations.
