GLENDALE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Senator John McCain's widow, Cindy McCain, served as an honorary captain for the Arizona Cardinals during their home opener against the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
It was McCain's first public appearance in the Valley since her late husband's memorial in Phoenix on August 30.
Thank you to @LarryFitzgerald and @AZCardinals for your warm welcome and touching tribute to John. Support for our family has been overwhelming. We’re going to keep fighting for the America John believed in everyday with the @McCainInstitute and hope you will join us #InTheArena— Cindy McCain (@cindymccain) September 9, 2018
Senator McCain was a huge Arizona sports fan. Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald spoke at his memorial service in Phoenix.
