PHOENIX - A fire broke out at a two-story apartment complex near 48th Street and Elliot on Wednesday morning.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found a fully-involved kitchen fire in one of the units.
"We do have quite a bit of smoke coming from the attic. The attic is very segmented so our crew is working hard to open the ceiling.. get into that attic and figure out where the smoke is coming from," stated Captain Jake Van Hook of the Phoenix Fire Department.
The surrounding units sustained minimal smoke damage.
The residents of the burned unit were not home at the time. The fire department is trying to reach the occupants to inform them about the fire.
No firefighters, civilians or pets were injured.
