Crews fight fire at Tempe apartment complex

Crews battled a first-alarm apartment fire near near Priest and Baseline Roads on Friday morning.

According to the Tempe Fire Department, two units were engulfed in flames, causing crews to evacuate the entire building.

The fire swept through the attic and burned through the roof on one side of the building.

Four people were displaced due to the fire.

"Our balcony sliding glass doors were cracked open and I shouted out.. said there was a fire and they said, yes, get out," said Christian Michaelsen.

Sherry Anderson added, "You could hear the screaming. It was loud. You couldn't make it what she was saying."

A maintenance worker was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

At this time, TFD says the cause of the fire is unknown.
