Crowd rolls up their sleeves to demonstrate what it really means to have your neighbor's back

Neighbors came together to help their nearly 70-year-old friend fill a hole in his backyard that was big enough for a car to fit inside.
Fox 10's Courtney Griffin has more on the story.
“We all know each other, who belongs, who doesn't,” says neighbor Milton Gutier. “We all kind of look after each other.”
Milton Gutier was one of about 15 neighbors who didn't think twice about helping out longtime friend and neighbor Don Rezek, after a large hole opened up in his backyard.
“Years I walked over that spot and never had any depression or anything there until this,” said Rezek.
Rezek has lived in the home for 44 years when the hole suddenly appeared.
“I was out irrigating one night and I was out at 4 in the morning…I saw foam all over that area,” Rezek says.
He started sweeping the foam up until his wife, from up above, gave him a sign.
“I think it was my poor departed wife [who] said stop right there and I didn't take another move-- finished the irrigation-- and the next morning the hole opens up all by itself.”
Rezek says if he would have stepped over the weak ground, he could have fallen into the 17-by-15 foot hole.
“But where all the dirt and debris went in that hole scared me to death because it had to go somewhere about 2 tons of dirt.”
That's when neighbors gathered to help.
A mound of dirt was donated by a Phoenix firefighter who lives down the street.
“I said Eric are you going to use all of that and he said no, do you want it and I said boy do I ever and he had his dump truck hall it to my drive and even that free of charge,” Rezek said.
The men filled the hole today, as the younger gentlemen took note of how to help a neighbor in need.
“We're all neighbors, we all help out each other, it's what our community is all about and it's what it should be.”
Neighbors say they think a septic tank that used to be there may have caused the ground to collapse.
