D-backs welcome dogs to the ballpark during 'Dog Days of Summer'

Starting April 10, dog-loving fans will be able to bring their pooches to Chase Field to enjoy America's favorite pastime on Sundays.

This season, the Arizona Diamondbacks are partnering with PetSmart to create the first-ever season-long dog-friendly ballpark in the country.

In a press release, the D-backs say fans can bring their dogs to the ballpark for all 13 Sunday home games at Chase Field during the 2016 season.

"We are seeing more and more establishments open up their facilities to pets, whether it's coffee shops, retail stores, hotels or restaurants," said Eran Cohen, a spokesperson with PetSmart. "We at PetSmart truly value the time pet parents spend with their beloved pets, and we want to help enrich the experiences they share together, including a baseball game."

The "PetSmart Patio" will be located along the main concourse behind left-center field. This area will feature a family-friendly atmosphere with seating for all dogs of various sizes.

Behind the "PetSmart Patio" fans will be able to enjoy the air-conditioned "PetSmart Park," which will be a baseball-themed dog park with a baseball diamond and grassy outfield.

The first "Dog Days of Summer" Sunday home game is on April 10 against the Chicago Cubs.
