PHOENIX - One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Phoenix on Sunday morning.
Phoenix Police officers say a 27-year-old man was killed in a crash near 35th Street and University at about 2:30am. Officers say the driver struck a raised curb, wound up losing control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. A passenger in the back seat was thrown from the vehicle and died on the scene. Phoenix Fire crews say two men were seriously hurt in the accident, and a third person was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Streets were shut down in the area of 35th Street and University while officers investigated what led up to the fatal accident. The driver was not hurt and remained on-scene to cooperate with the polcie investigation. The person killed in the crash has not yet been identified.
