Deadly officer-involved shooting in Mesa

A deadly officer-involved shooting happened late Friday night in Mesa.
Mesa police tell FOX 10 a specialty unit was attempting to contact a homicide suspect when the shooting happened.
The shooting happened near Country Club and McKellips.
The suspect was wanted in connection to the shooting death of a 55-year-old on Thursday.
Officers caught up to the suspect as he was driving a car in a neighborhood.
Police say the suspect sped up trying to to get away. But before he could, officers cornered the vehicle, forcing him out.
"They knew he was armed and dangerous. During that contact they perceived a threat and three officers fired their weapons striking the suspect," said Mesa detective Nick Rasheta.
The three officers who fired their weapons were all Mesa police officers.
There was one other person in the car.
They were taken in for questioning. The name of the suspect has not been released.
