A 9-year-old boy got the surprise of a lifetime at Saturday’s Diamondbacks game.
It was his birthday and during the fourth inning his birthday present came walking in.
This boy’s dad has been stationed in Turkey for nine months.
When he realized he may have some leave time he thought what better way to spend it than surprising his son for his birthday.
"I've been to a lot of Diamondbacks games, but this was just entirely different," said Mike Vickers, Tech Sergeant with the US Air Force.
On Saturday at the Diamondbacks game he surprised his son Micah for his 9th birthday....who he hasn't seen in 9 months.
The Diamondbacks captured it all on video.
"His reaction was priceless, it was hilarious to me, you know he was just like, dad?"
Vickers has been serving in Turkey for nine months. He says he hasn't been with his son on his actual birthday in several years...making this surprise even better.
Several D-backs players also loved the moment between the father and son and they took to Twitter to show their support.
"I didn't know what to expect, I just wanted to give him a moment that he'll hopefully remember forever," said Vickers.
Micah is now spending the day with his dad playing catch. Both are still shocked the surprise went off without a hitch.
This reunion is something they both will never forget.
"Family is really important and it's great to get to see them when you get to see them. It's just…cherish the time you have with them."
Vickers leaves again in a week for another six months.
He says he is forever grateful to the Diamondbacks for pulling the surprise together and making it all happen.
