Dinner honors Gold Star families

- A special dinner was held for local gold star families that lost loved ones fighting for our freedom. The host is a mother who knows the pain first hand.

Debbie Lee's son Marc was the first Navy Seal killed in Iraq.

As they sat side-by-side the people at these tables, all knew they shared an unbreakable bond.

"I knew I couldn't do anything for myself, but I could do something to help others," said Debbie Lee.

Each and every single one suffered a loss like Lee's, her foundation America's Mighty Warrior hosted the event.

"It was created in response to my son's amazing last letter home, he was the first Navy Seal killed in Iraq on August 2, 2006," said Lee.

Random acts of kindness according to Lee, including bringing these families together and letting them know they are loved and appreciated, and that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

"It's been over nine years since I lost my son, and you don't want anyone to forget when our fallen are gone, you don't see, you look at me, and you don't see my scars on me, you wouldn't know, you wouldn't know anything is wrong. We see our wounded vets often time they're missing a leg or limb, and we're reminded of the sacrifice, and that doesn't happen with gold star families," said Lee.

Lee holds events nationwide including retreats for the families and wounded warriors in Texas.
