Dog lives out last days by fulfilling bucket list

- Vick has been at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control since May, has become a larger than life figure, and shelter staffers say you can't help but stop and smile when you come across him.

"He's such a love, he's such a nice dog, he's got such a soft face," Debrah Wood-Lafave said. "I fell in love with him right away. He's very easy to take care of."

That's why when Vick was diagnosed with terminal skin cancer and has a limited amount of time left, they wanted to do something extra special.

"That's kind of where this whole concept of this bucket list came in... to make him as happy as possible," Jose Santiago said.

Santiago says he posted on Facebook a plea to friends asking for ideas and help to make Vick's remaining time as special as possible, and the results were amazing.

Vick is set for his relaxing, exciting and delicious day on Friday. Even though words fall short of expressing how much Vick means to the shelter, a little extra TLC is just what the doctor ordered.

"We want him to know that he's not just another animal at the shelter, that he's apart of the whole shelter family," Santiago said.
