I-17 back open after crash involving commercial truck kills one person

BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A deadly crash involving a commercial truck and several other vehicles partially closed Interstate 17 north of Sunset Point for some time Friday.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, one person has died and others are injured following the crash along northbound I-17 at milepost 259.

DPS says a hazmat crew is responding to the scene because the commercial truck is leading fuel onto the interstate.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, one lane of northbound I-17 has reopened about seven miles north of the Sunset Point rest area at milepost 259, just before Bloody Basin Road.

As of 3:50 p.m. Friday, I-17 is back open, but ADOT officials say drivers should expect extended delays. The backup is roughly 20 miles.
