DPS investigating officer involved shooting

Three officers with the Casa Grande Police Department have been reassigned to administrative positions, as the Arizona Department of Public Safety investigates an officer involved shooting incident.

The incident, according to Casa Grande Police, took place on Friday night. The victim, identified as 48-year-old Gabriel Parker, was killed after he allegedly charged at officers with a machete. Officers reportedly used bean bags and tasers first, but both were ineffective, and when Parker allegedly charged at officers, they opened fire.

According to police, officers initially responded to a home, after getting a 911 call from a friend or family member that Parker was trying to harm himself.

The officers were identified by Casa Grande Police as Bryan Martinez, Jeremy Ybarra and Efren Lujan. According to police, none of the officers sere injured.
