Driver arrested after $1.2M in marijuana found in AZ

HOLBROOK, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say a man has been arrested in northeastern Arizona after the seizure of estimated $1.2 million worth of high-grade marijuana.

Navajo County Sheriff's officials say 48-year-old Vincent Hoang has been booked into jail on suspicion of transportation of marijuana.

It was unclear Monday if Hoang has a lawyer and authorities didn't immediately release his hometown.

A sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck Friday on Interstate 40 near Holbrook.

The deputy spoke to the vehicle's driver and suspected he may be involved in criminal activity.

The deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle and the driver refused.

A drug detection dog alerted authorities to the presence of drugs and authorities say 212 pounds of high-grade marijuana was found concealed in the truck's bed.
