Driver in custody after chase across Scottsdale

A driver is in custody after a chase overnight involving several police agencies in the valley.

Officers with Salt River Police and DPS responded to the pursuit that began at about 3 a.m., on Sunday.

The suspect was reportedly under surveillance in the north valley and led police on a chase. When Salt River Police officers tried to stop the vehicle on suspicion of DUI, the driver tried to run over the Salt River officer.

A DPS sergeant also jumped out of the way to avoid being hit by the suspect as he took off.

The vehicle was followed from Scottsdale & Dixileta for several miles all the way to Larkspur and 72nd Drive. The driver bailed out of the vehicle and was quickly taken into custody.

It's not clear what charges the suspect may be facing.

Both Phoenix Police and Scottsdale Police are assisting with the investigation.
