DPS: 10-year-old killed in tractor-trailer crash near Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Authorities say a 10-year-old child died following a crash involving a tractor-trailer along Interstate 40 near Flagstaff on Friday morning.

Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper Kameron Lee says the two-vehicle wreck happened when the tractor-trailer rear-ended an SUV towing a trailer shortly before 4 a.m along the eastbound lanes of I-40.

Following the collision, the SUV rolled off the roadway and separated from the trailer it was towing. The 10-year-old was transported to a Flagstaff hospital and was later pronounced dead.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says one eastbound lane was reopened at about 7 a.m. and that westbound lanes were unaffected.

The investigation is ongoing by DPS.
