FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (FOX 10) - The man accused in a 2015 shooting at Northern Arizona University that left a 20-year-old man dead and injured three others injured has announced his new lawyer set to lead his defense team after his previous lawyer withdrew.
At a status hearing on March 5, Steven Jones announced that Christopher Dupont will be leading the defense counsel, according to the Arizona Daily Sun.
The local Flagstaff newspaper said prosecutors and defense attorneys were ordered to establish a re-trial date by Friday, March 15.
Steven Jones admitted to his involvement in the deadly shooting that killed Colin Brough, but Jones claims he acted in self-defense.
Prosecutors say he could have walked away from a late-night confrontation without resorting to gunfire.
A jury in Jones' first trial deadlocked on murder and aggravated assault charges in 2017.
