Facebook group matches families with surrogate grandparents

More grandparents are wanted, it's a great idea dreamed up by a Florida Woman.

Donna Skora spends a lot of time on a computer. She works in a Florida law office and spends a lot of time running a large online group.

The idea is to connect people wanting to be surrogate grandparents with families who need one. The group started in 2015 with 30 members and has grown to more than 1,100 a year later.

"Someone can look on the site and go ok; these people are in a town near me. They will post something on the page, tag them, and say I'm reaching out to you, I'm gonna send you a personal message," said Donna Skora.

Mason Berman lives in New Jersey. Now thanks to Skora's Facebook group, she's also a surrogate grandparent too.

Skora's group is called Surrogate Grandparents USA, and it's a closed Facebook Group. You have to ask to join, and there are no background checks.

"I highly urge them to have background checks done. It's a very small price to pay for a possible lifetime of love," said Skora.

Donna says her surrogate grand-family fills what was a void in her life.

"We have connected with someone. It's a single mom with a daughter. They live in a different state, we try to text each other each day, and try to Skype once a week," said Skora.
