GILBERT, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Hundreds of kids, teachers, and parents came together at a Gilbert school to show their compassion for teachers in the school battling cancer and others who've overcome it.
Great Hearts Archway Lincoln School was the site of Friday's "Relay for Life." Nearly 700 students were there to show their support for their music teacher, Mrs. Rockmaker, who's battling pancreatic cancer.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Rockmaker couldn't make it to the event, but her sister was there to say thank you to the students.
"The notes from you guys, the cards, the meals from you guys, the visits, they all mean so much and [they] help her get through this very difficult time," said Andrea Eisein, Mrs. Rockmaker's sister.
Friday morning's walk raised money for the American Cancer Society.
