PHOENIX (KSAZ) - After coming face-to-face in court this morning with the woman accused of killing her daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law, Tracy Earl has a message for her.
"I would just tell her about Lindsey, how amazing my daughter was, how amazing Terry was, they were perfect for each other, they were going to have babies," she said. "My daughter wanted to be a mother so badly."
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says 26-year-old Lauren Tamburelli was driving drunk on Interstate 10 with her 3-year-old child in the car when she rear-ended the car Lindsey and Terry were in, causing the rollover crash that killed them.
"I don't know if she even realizes what she did from one terrible decision, how many families it impacted and how many lives it impacted," Tracy said. "It's just terrible."
Lindsey's parents say their biggest fear is if Tamburelli is released, she'll repeat the same life-altering behavior she's accused of.
"I'm sure that wasn't the first time she's done that," Donald Earl said. "She's probably drove that way a lot of times, with her child in the car, makes it even worse."
Even though nothing can bring Lindsey and Terry back, family members say they'll fight to keep their legacies alive.
"Lindsey was amazing, she had going for her, she's actually done more in 29 years than more people could think of doing in their lifetime, and Terry was just an amazing guy," Tanna Welter said. "He was just the perfect guy that every parent would want for their daughter."
As Tamburelli faces charges of second-degree murder, DUI, and nine counts of endangerment, Lindsey's family says they will be at every hearing as a reminder.
"So I just want her to know my daughter would have been a good mother," Tracy said.
