Family upset to find burial plots damaged in last week's storm

A valley family was shocked and upset when they say they went to visit their loved one's grave site Saturday to discover the cemetery in a state of disarray.
No one was to blame for the destruction. It was actually Mother Nature’s fault!
The monsoon that blew through last Monday night and caused so much destruction in central Phoenix also did damage to the Greenwood Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
This family has their son buried at the cemetery, located near Van Buren and 27th Avenue. They went to go visit his grave site Saturday and couldn't believe all the damage that was still left behind from the massive storm.
Strong winds and pounding rain hit the valley hard nearly a week ago.
Several areas suffered massive damage. Trees were ripped from their roots and power lines knocked over.
The storm also spared no mercy on the Greenwood Memorial lawn.
A woman who did not wish to be identified has her son and nephew buried there.
"Thursday I looked on Facebook and some relatives of mine said that they went to the Greenwood Memorial Cemetery and it was kind of like a little damage there."
She said she wanted to see for herself so she went to the cemetery on Saturday and took these photos.
She tells us her sons grave site had little damage, but her nephews was hit hard.
"The tree is tipped over, the headstone is standing up, you go around the tree and you can see underneath into the ground and it’s like we can see a coffin."
This mother says she understands no one can mess with Mother Nature, but she's just hoping the damage is cleaned up sooner than later.
"I just want everything put the way it was, it doesn't matter if they're not alive or what, in my eyes they are not resting. I think they are not resting until all of the damages are done."
The cemetery has acknowledged there was storm damage, saying they lost about 20 trees.
They tell us they will speak to us more about the issue tomorrow.
