Fatal crash closes Cave Creek road

Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a fatal crash in the north valley.

The crash happened before 4 p.m. near Cave Creek and Cactus.

Officers say the crash involves three vehicles. SkyFox video shows, at least, one of the vehicles rolled off the roadway, an SUV with front-end damage, and another car.

Investigators believe a gray Infinity G35 was driving southbound on Cave Creek road at an excessive speed and lost control, crossing over the center line and crashing into a Ford Expedition SUV.

Emergency crews responded and transported the 17-year-old driver of the Infinity to the hospital where he is in critical condition. Investigators say a passenger in the front seat of that car, a 15-year-old boy, died as a result of the crash.

Cave Creek was closed north of Cactus while they investigated the crash. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
