FBI confirms arrest in retired police officer's shooting death

Phoenix Police arrested John Campos, Sr., who was wanted by the FBI in connection with a Gila River Police Department homicide investigation.

Officers responded to reports of a suspicious person around 4:30 p.m in the area of 24th Street and Broadway Road. Officials say the caller described and gave the name 'John Campos' for the subject of the call.

"Officers located the subject who briefly fled on a bicycle to the area of 23rd Street and Magnolia where his bicycle collided with a vehicle, causing minor abrasions, allowing officers to take him into custody and confirm his identity as John Campos, Sr.," stated Sgt. Vince Lewis.

Campos is accused of shooting and killing Frank Pascua, a retired Bakersfield, California police officer, in the casino's parking lot. Investigators say the shooting happened during an attempted carjacking by Campos.
