Firefighters rescue dog from burning Phoenix home

A south Phoenix family will learn that they'll need to find a new place to live after a fire burned their home near 35th Avenue and Baseline.

Firefighters say neighbors called 9-1-1 around 4:00 a.m. Tuesday when they saw smoke coming from the rear of the home.

Crews were able to put the flames out quickly, but there was a lot of damage.

"The residents were not at home at the time of the fire, and there are no injuries to report," stated Phoenix Fire Department Captain Aaron Ernsberger.

Crews managed to get a dog out of the house safely.
