Firefighters rescue woman trapped in car in Phoenix canal

PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix firefighters rescued a woman who was trapped in a small car in a canal.

Firefighters used a ladder and safety ropes as they removed the woman from the car, and she then was able to climb up to the top of the ladder Wednesday morning.

The Fire Department says the woman wasn't injured and that she accidentally drove into the canal while trying to turn around after making a wrong turn.

The incident occurred near 32nd Street and Lincoln.

It's not known how deep the water was in the canal but most of the car was visible on video released by the department.
